South-east Queensland has been building flat out, and in Brisbane the pressure often lands on the builders, trades and suppliers behind the projects. A head contractor pays late or a job runs over, the cash goes first, the ATO falls behind, and then a Director Penalty Notice or a statutory demand arrives. We work with business owners, directors and individuals across Brisbane and Queensland dealing with ATO debt, payroll tax owed to the Queensland Revenue Office, or a business that can’t keep up with what it owes. If you hold a QBCC licence, timing matters even more, because what happens to the company can decide whether you keep it. Most people talk to us by phone or video because it saves time and stays private, but if you’d rather meet face to face, we’ll come to you, anywhere from the CBD to Ipswich, Logan, Toowoomba or the coasts. There’s no office to travel to and no waiting room. We’re not a liquidator or a trustee, and for 38 years we’ve worked from the business owner’s side of the table.

Brisbane questions
I hold a QBCC licence. What happens to it if my company goes into liquidation?
In Queensland, the QBCC can make you an “excluded individual” if you were a director, secretary or influential person of a construction company in the two years before it went into liquidation or administration. Your licence is cancelled for three years, and you can’t be a director of another licensed company in that time. Timing matters, so talk to us before anyone is appointed, not after.
Where do bankruptcy and wind-up papers get filed in Queensland?
Bankruptcy petitions go to the Federal Circuit and Family Court or the Federal Court, both through the Brisbane registry at the Harry Gibbs Commonwealth Law Courts, 119 North Quay. Applications to wind up a company go to the Federal Court there, or to the Supreme Court of Queensland. If you’ve been served, the date on the papers is your deadline. Call us that day.
I owe payroll tax to the Queensland Revenue Office as well as the ATO. Can both be sorted together?
Yes. The QRO is a separate creditor with its own payment arrangements, so the two have to be handled side by side, not one after the other. We look at the whole picture, including the ATO, the QRO, suppliers and lenders, and work out a plan that holds up with all of them.
Talk it through — no cost, no pressure.
Pick a time that suits you, by phone or video. We’ll talk through your situation and your options, privately. Since 1988.
